Zenith Hypertension Study 

Are you living with high blood pressure? 

You may be able to take part. 

About the study:

The ZENITH clinical research study for people with uncontrolled high blood pressure aims to find out if an investigational medication can help lower the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke.  

You may be able to take part if:

  • You’re 18 or older 

  • You are taking at least 2 medications for high blood pressure, including a diuretic (water pill) 

  • AND you have cardiovascular disease 

OR 

  • You’re 55 or older 

  • You are taking at least 2 medications for high blood pressure, including a diuretic (water pill) 

  • AND you have a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease 

Study duration:

Duration 

13-15 clinic visits over 2.5-5 years 

Compensation 

Participants will be reimbursed for their time and travel costs 

What does taking part involve? 

Are you at risk? 

Several factors can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, including smoking, obesity or having Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.  

What to expect:

The study doctor will go through your health details with you to see if the ZENITH study is a good fit. If you qualify and choose to take part, you'll be assigned at random (by chance) to receive either an investigational medication called zilebesiran (pronounced zile-BEE-siran) or a placebo. A placebo looks like and is given in the same way as zilebesiran, but does not contain any medication. There is a 50:50 chance that you will receive zilebesiran. 

Screening period 

You will need to visit the study site once or twice so the study doctors can assess whether the ZENITH study is a good fit for you. 

Treatment period (up to 5 years) 

You will need to attend 6 visits in the 1st year, and then 2 visits per year until the end of the study. Participation will depend on whether you experience any cardiovascular events, such as heart disease and stroke. 

Participation in the ZENITH study is voluntary, and you can change your mind at any time. The study medication and health assessments are provided at no cost to you.
