Nicola Marshall
Communications and Engagement Lead
BDesNicola Marshall has spent two decades of mahi in communication, outreach and collaborative partnerships, predominantly in the arts and culture sector. Projects and long-term roles in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and New York, have offered a combination of strategic consultancy and hands-on implementation and delivery, including events, visual identity, marketing, and outreach.
Graduating from Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design, Nic has worked as a design strategist, art director, illustrator, copy writer, publicist, programmer and producer, collaborating with a range of partners and creatives, from Flight of the Conchords, the Jim Henson Legacy and Taika Waititi, to Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision. Whatever the gig, Nic focuses on finding unique, vital and comprehensive communication solutions to encourage authentic connection and community.
Nic was a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow in 2011, sits on the Board of Advisors for the New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF), and was a finalist in the New Zealand Women of Influence Awards 2018, Arts and Culture category.
