Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) can increase your risk of serious events like a heart attack or stroke. Crucial to reducing this risk is keeping your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (“bad cholesterol”) levels under control. But many people do not get enough benefit from their current medications.

MRINZ is looking for people to take part in a research study investigating the long-term effects of an investigational medicine AZD0780. We want to find out whether AZD0780 may help to reduce LDL cholesterol levels and the risk of cardiovascular-related events or medical procedures. AZD0780 is taken by mouth as a tablet, once each day.


We require people:

  • Who have had a Cardiovascular event e.g. heart attack or stroke OR

  • Are at higher risk of having a Cardiovascular event due to age, diabetes, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease or high cholesterol.


In total, you may be in the study for up to 4.5 years, with visits usually every few months. During visits, you’ll meet with the study team to discuss your health and have tests and assessments, including heart tests (electrocardiograms) and blood and urine tests.


At home, you’ll need to:

  • Take the study treatment, by mouth, once each day

  • Fast for at least 8 hours before visits

  • Avoid any changes in your exercise routine 5 days before visits

  • Follow a heart-healthy diet

It will not cost anything to take part, and you may be paid back for any travel or parking costs during visits.
